Global Gaming Solutions continues extensive renovation
projects at Remington Park
Major changes to be complete before start of Thoroughbred Season – August 19
OKLAHOMA CITY – Officials with Global Gaming Solutions recently announced new renovation plans at Remington Park, continuing the complete transformation of the state’s premier racetrack and casino. The latest projects focus mainly on the exterior of the building and will be completed by the start of live Thoroughbred racing season scheduled to kick off Thursday, August 19.
John Elliott, Global Gaming Solutions chief executive officer, said the extensive projects already are underway and will continue at a fast pace throughout the next six weeks.
“These projects continue our plan to transform Remington Park from one of Oklahoma’s most unique entertainment venues into a world-class experience,” said Elliott. “This phase’s major exterior renovations will give the park a much needed facelift from top-to-bottom. Anyone passing by Remington Park will notice the significant changes to the facility.”
Elliott noted that upgrades taking place this summer focus mainly on the racing facility portion of the park, including new roofing on the park’s paddock and main building, resurfacing and new paint to the paddock, main building and balconies, and new exterior lighting and upgrades to the public announcement system for the racetrack.
Opened in September 1988, Remington Park first gained notoriety for its regal horse racing facilities. The park then expanded in late 2005 with the addition of a casino. Since its opening 22 years ago, the number of improvements to the property has been limited. That all changed when Global Gaming Solutions acquired the property on January 1, 2010. The company immediately set an aggressive first-year, $7 million plan to renovate the entire facility.
Remington Park president and general manager Scott Wells said the ongoing renovations demonstrate the commitment of the new ownership group.
“This renewed effort to return Remington Park back to being a point of pride for all Oklahomans is exciting to be a part of,” Wells said. “Truthfully, the new ownership group has done more for Remington Park in six months than anyone else has done in 20 years.”
Elliott pointed out that the improvements are not only for aesthetic purposes.
“Remington Park contributes significantly to Oklahoma’s economy,” said Elliott. “Whether it is through the horse racing industry or from the monies raised through the casino for education, ultimately, these improvements mean more revenue and jobs for the metro area and Oklahoma as a whole. We even go so far as to hire only Oklahoma- or Oklahoma City-based construction companies to complete these projects.”
Currently, more than 200 construction workers are on site and working to complete these projects by the beginning of Thoroughbred Season on August 19.

How come most of the trucks I've seen on the job site have Texas tags on them if they are Oklahoma companies?
