$1.50 drafts from 4 - 7 pm |
By Avery Oden
Henry Hudson’s Pub trackside location at Remington Park is an
excellent place for the fun-loving, deal-seeking type. They don’t have the 5-star cuisine of Silks, but they have some great food and awesome deals on beer that are hard to
ignore.
From 4:00 to 7:00, you can come sit down in Henry Hudson’s heated patio area, drink bottomless $1.50 draft beers, and watch Oklahoma’s
most contested race horses barrel down the track not 20 feet from where you
sit. No admission fees and no minimums, only great deals and friendly faces.
They haven’t neglected you liquor lovers, either. Hudson’s
serves a wide variety of martinis and high-end cocktails for equally great
prices all night. Be sure to ask about the mudslide (pictured below), my
personal favorite.
If you’re not looking to drink at all, you’re also in luck.
Henry Hudson’s Pub takes great pride in their family-friendly environment, serving
excellent pub food and tasty desserts for all ages.
And even though it’s at a horse track, don’t forget that
Henry Hudson’s Pub is still a sports pub! With NFL season approaching, Hudson’s
wants everybody to remember that they’ll be playing the game and offering their
great deals to sports fans of all creeds and colors.
I got a chance to spend some time there the other day, to
sample some of their famed pub food and cocktail specials. Here’s a few menu
selections to give you a taste of what they offer every day:
Be careful. It bites back. |
The Sink burger is a meaty, daunting compilation of two beef patties, fried egg, pepperjack cheese, green chilis, American cheese, green chilies, grilled onions, chipotle mayo, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
As you can see, this is a burger to be reckoned with. It demands attention, and refuses to be ignored. This is the type of burger that is only for the brave. It's simultaneously a challenge and a reward. I recommend it for the adventurous carnivore.
The pizza is my personal recommendation at Henry Hudson's Pub.
Of course, we all know that it's pretty rare to find a pizza that we don't like. It's kind of like a PB&J sandwich in that nobody but school cafeterias seem to be able to screw it up.

What I wasn't anticipating though, was the excellent herb-filled crust, firm and crunchy, layered with rich and stringy mozzarella cheese, then topped with some of the most flavorful italian sausage I've had to date. Their pizzas are handmade and cooked fresh to order. Calling this "pub food" is an injustice.
For dessert, I treated myself to a slice of cold, creamy cheesecake. Crusted with graham cracker, and drizzled with cream and strawberry sauce, this slice of succulence is likely to make you forget that you're still sitting in a pub.
Ultimately, Henry Hudson's Pub is a excellently executed balancing act of great deals on drinks and quality food to go accompany. Whether you're here with the family, or meeting after work for drinks, this is a place that caters to all.
I'd like to thank the Henry Hudson's staff for being awesome and letting me hang out and take pictures. They're some of Remington Park's friendliest staff, so don't ever be afraid to drop in for a beer and a chat.
I'll be seeing you two again soon.. |
