Giving Thanks at Remington Park

It’s the day before Thanksgiving at Remington Park, and the spirit of the holiday has begun to fill the building like the smell of turkey and stuffing wafting through the halls. Smiles are bright, conversation is joyous, and everybody’s ready to get home and see their families for the holidays.

Before we go though, let’s take a moment to look back as a team and recount some of the amazing things we have to be grateful for here at Remington.

As always our gratitude goes first and foremost to our dedicated fans, whose support has carried us through some tough years in the past and towards a bright future for the sport of horse racing in Oklahoma. It is because of you that we can claim to be one of the country’s best racetracks –in competition, in technological advancement, in integrity, and in reputation. It is because of YOU that the spirit of horse racing continues to thrive in this great state.

It would also be remissible to go without issuing a sincere and heartfelt thank you to our incredibly hard-working and devoted backside staff. There’s an old saying that goes, “It takes a village”. But in our case, it takes that... plus some.

 

Behind the scenes at Remington Park, we have enormous teams working day in and day out to maintain 21 barns, each containing 64 stables. That’s 1,344 stables that need to be cleaned, prepared, and ready at all times. This requires a crew of over 600 grooms that come in during our racing seasons. If this is something that you’ve not seen first-hand, we can assure that these incredible men and women produce enough elbow grease on a daily basis to drown an elephant.

They’re here well before the sun rises and stay late into the night to keep our guests happy, our horses comfortable, and our hearts racing. On behalf of the Remington Park team, we’d like to issue a sincere THANK YOU to our backside brigade. Without them, there wouldn’t be a Remington Park.

And much like the backside staff that works to keep the racetrack in peak form there is also the casino staff, dedicating huge amounts of time and energy to keep our casino a top-of-the-line attraction. RemingtonPark has long been well-known as the model of customer service, and that attitude has carried over seamlessly into our casino operations. Whether it’s a machine technician, a security officer, a cocktail waitress or a custodian, our guests are always treated with the kindness and gratitude they deserve - on all fronts.

Finally, the list wouldn’t be complete without taking pause to recognize the wonderful state of Oklahoma for making the decision to allow Remington Park to stay afloat by incorporating a casino in 2005. And another enormous thanks goes to Global Gaming Solutions for recognizing the potential of Remington Park, and pursuing over $15 million in renovations to the facility in 2009, making our facility a truly world-class destination.
