Friday’s Champions - Up close and personal with tonight’s winning race horses

Well it’s been another exciting Friday at Remington Park, another one for the books.

And after such an enthralling series of races, I thought it might be appropriate to get to know some of the evening’s winners just a little bit better. So tonight I got the chance to sit down with some of these equine rockstars and really learn their stories; Where they came from, what makes them tick, what their dreams and passions are, and how they came to discover the love of the race.

Race 1’s winner, OneSongIsAllItTakes, is here to remind us that apparently one word is all it takes too. When I asked him how he felt about taking tonight’s victory, he looked me dead in the eye - and with camera flashes reflecting off the sweat in his mane - he sternly said, “One song to rule them all.”

OneSongIsAllItTakes is also known locally for his close personal relationships with mentors Sisqó, Tommy Two-Tone, Chumbawumba, and the Baja Men.

Race 2 was taken by Love Charbie, great grandson of Lord Horsseus of Charbieshire. Love Charbie was given his name after the questionable nature of Lord Horsseus’s loyalty to the people of Charbieshire began to emerge amongst the academic horses of the kingdom. The controversy has since died down.

Race 3 was victored by Philosophy fanatic Por Que, who, like his name suggests, is always busy concerning himself with both the “whys” and the “becauses” of life - and ultimately of the Universe itself.

Race 4 was a tight one, with the victory stolen at the last second from Pee H Dee . Little known fact about Pee H Dee: he is the highly educated, not-distant cousin to noted playhouse tycoon Pee-Wee Herman.

Race 5’s winner, Championship Gold, clearly demonstrated to all of us tonight that the psychological phenomenon of the self-fulfilling prophecy is nothing to shake your tail at.

Race 6 was taken by Storm’s Promise. Anybody who doesn’t know what Storm is promising, I’d recommend looking into it. Hint: it’s victories.

Race 7 was championed by V L T Or Bust. When I got the chance to speak with V L T after the race, he made me promise to print a retraction to correct a misunderstanding regarding his name. What he meant to say was BLT or bust, due to his undying love for the popular sandwich. However, due to the large front teeth and retracted jaw commonly seen in horses, his “B’s” get mispronounced as “V’s”.

When asked what he wants to do now that he’s won the race, he simply said, “All I really want is to sit down and enjoy a VLT with a cold Bottle of Bricktown Brewery’s famous craft beer.”

I owe it to him to remind the reader that this is a very serious disability and it is in no way a laughing matter.

So now that we’ve learned a little bit more about the horses that bring us these great times at Remington Park, I think we’ve also learned a little bit about ourselves. You see, we’re not that different from these track-blazing beasts. Sometimes all we really want at the end of the day is a sandwich, a little recognition, and to be heard.
