Chaplain and Jockey Visit Children...

Chaplain and Jockey Visit Children at the Oklahoma Children's Cancer Center on November 9th.

Sandy Steinberg made arrangements for Chaplain Carl Crisswell and Jockeys, Curtis Kimes and Louis Povar to meet with Kay Tangner, a volunteer at the Center. Kay had the kids primed and ready for the visit.

On the table a race track with toy horses was created and along with the pictures of real race experiences the jockeys provided, the kids could simulate actual races.

Chaplain Crisswell had hoped for more jockeys to represent Remington Park, however these two were just what the 'doctor' ordered and proved to be perfect ambassadors for RP. Their interaction with the children, especially Curtis who was awesome, along with Louis's photography (he brought his own camera) made the day.

All of the pictures shown here along with many more are now posted on the Center's bulletin board for everyone at the Center to enjoy.

Upon asking Kay what additional needs the Center had, she responded with "Toys". Toys are given at special times during the children's treatments, for example; finishing chemotherapy.

Currently the plan is for the Chaplain and volunteer Jockeys to visit the Center during each Race Meet.

If you are interested in donating toys and/or visiting the Oklahoma Children's Cancer Center please contact Chaplain Carl Crisswell or Sandy Steinberg.
